WEEKEND RECAP!! BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU TOURNAMENTS // MMA FIGHTSNEW BLOG POST

What an amazing weekend for the Crispim BJJ & MMA Team!

BJJ Competition Team

To begin, two of Crispim BJJ’s youngest competitors competed in not one, but TWO Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments this past weekend! First, the BJJ Tour’s All Star tournament in Santa Cruz on Saturday, and then Sergio Silva’s Jiu Jitsu by the Bay tournament on Sunday! It takes an incredible amount of courage, drive, focus, and discipline to prepare for and compete, and the Crispim BJJ Family would like to congratulate ALL of our students who challenge themselves to do so! It is important for us to teach our students that at the end of the day, competing is about so much more than earning medals on the podium. And while earning a medal for their efforts is always a wonderful keepsake, we ultimately hope that they reflect on how all of their hard work, time, and energy spent dedicating themselves to their training, contributes to the pride that they should all take in their accomplishments, regardless of where they place! Competing can be difficult for many adults, let alone children, so we are happy and proud of each and every one of you for challenging yourselves when you do! (Please see the pix from the event at the end of this post.)

MMA Fight Team // Conquer Fighting Championship

We would like to congratulate our Academy Director and MMA Instructor / Jiu-Jitsu Professor, Jeremiah Labiano for becoming Conquer Fighting Championship’s first Featherweight Champion! After a very impressive, dominant, 5 round performance, he improves on his winning record as a professional mma fighter, and brings the belt back home with him to Crispim BJJ! Jeremiah’s commitment and dedication is second to none, and we are proud of him for all of the amazing accomplishments he’s achieved over the many years that he’s been training, and would like to thank our entire team of students, training partners, friends / family, and coaching staff, for supporting him along the way!

We would also like to applaud our front desk, member service specialist and amateur MMA Fighter, Dwight Maters on his hard fought battle on the undercard for the event! Dwight is currently the NorCal Fight Series’ Heavyweight Champion, and while the outcome of his fight this past weekend wasn’t the result that we all hoped for, we congratulate him as he continues to work hard and improve!

Congratulations to the team for an amazing weekend! Please enjoy the photos from the coverage of the events, below.
